Pine Ridge Reservation

We will pick you up at your Rapid City hotel around 8:30 am and drive down to Pine Ridge, which is the 2nd largest Indian Reservation in the USA. We will drive through ranch country to the old West "ghost town" of Scenic, taking time for a few pictures. We will continue the drive through the south unit of the Badlands, where we will give you an in-depth perspective of the Reservation and all it has to offer. We will go to places such as the Wounded Knee Cemetery, Oglala Lakota College Historical Center, the town of Pine Ridge to view the tribal offices, the town of White Clay, Nebraska, and the Red Cloud Heritage Center and church with all of its Native art displays and Native made items. If you wish to purchase Native made items from the locals please bring cash, as most of them do not accept checks or credit cards. We will make a lunch stop where needed during the day, which can include local food if desired. We will drive back to Rapid City and arrive around 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. The price is $240 per person plus 6% state sales tax. The tour lasts about 10 hours and is about 280 miles. (If the tour runs substantially over the allotted time additional charges may apply.) Guide gratuities are at your discretion.
