Pine Ridge Reservation
We will pick you up at your Rapid City hotel around 8:30 am and drive down to Pine Ridge, which is the 2nd largest Indian Reservation in the USA. We will drive through ranch country to the old West "ghost town" of Scenic, taking time for a few pictures. We will continue the drive through the south unit of the Badlands, where we will give you an in-depth perspective of the Reservation and all it has to offer. Included are such places as the Wounded Knee Cemetery, if open the Oglala Lakota College Historical Center, the town of Pine Ridge to view the tribal offices, the town of White Clay, Nebraska, and the Red Cloud Heritage Center and church with all of its Native art displays and Native made items. If you wish to purchase Native made items from the locals please bring cash, as most of them do not accept checks or credit cards. We will give you time to buy your lunch where available during the day, which can include local food if desired. We will drive back to Rapid City stopping at Red Shirt Badlands Scenic Overlook. Arrival in Rapid City will be approximately 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. The price is $185 per person plus 6% state sales tax. The tour lasts about 8-9 hours and is about 240 miles round trip. Guide gratuities are not included and are at your discretion.
