Our tour from Affordable Adventures was the highlight of our trip to South Dakota. We chose an all-day trip to Rushmore, Crazy Horse,Custer National Forest, Needles Highway, etc. Karen Daniels, our tour guide/van driver was awesome. She knew so much about the area that we would have never learned trying to drive to all these places on our own. My husband had a broken foot, so she did everything to accommodate him by getting us as close as possible and taking us to spots where it was easy for him to walk. We had lunch of buffalo burgers at an awesome restaurant that had been known as Calvin Coolidge's second White House. Karen seemed to just know where to go to find the wild animals, too. We saw hundreds of bison (sometimes waiting for them to cross the road), burro, prairie dogs and prong-horn. The day-long trip was a great value. It enabled us to see a lot in a single day, giving us time to hit Deadwood, Mitchell, Wall, Badlands and other nearby places on our other two days in the area. It was a trip we'll always remember. Ann, What a wonderful, absolutely perfect way to spend the 4th of July 2008 fireworks show at Mt. Rushmore. The show is actually always held on the 3rd of July. A perfect view of Mt. Rushmore fireworks and prereserved excellent view and seating. Thank you for such a great experience, arranged by your tour company. To be picked up at our Hotel in Rapid City, early evening and driven by such a great guide and clean, comfortable van. We felt like royalty. It was such a time savor not to spend the whole day holding seats to see the firework show. We had been told by the Mt. Rushmore park service that you must arrive by 9 a.m. that morning or parking is completely filled. There are 50 to 60 thousand people trying to get in that day for the show that night. If you get to Mt. Rushmore any later you park miles away and walk a steep slope and then camp out your sight for the show, 12 hours later. Our family instead used your professional company and drove right up to the reserved seats held for us. We spent good use of our short time in the area, sight seeing other locations that day instead of sitting in the hot sun wasting valuable time. We travel a great deal and have already spread the word about what a great Fourth of July show you arranged for us. This is the only way to go when seeing the best fireworks in our country. The show at Mt. Rushmore even tops Epcot Walt Disney Worlds 4th fireworks show which we have seen several times and also the Statue of Liberty fireworks show in New York. Ann, I want to thank you for making my last day in Rapid City memorable. You treated me like I was a long time friend. You didn't have to go the extra miles that you did to allow me to take pictures of Mt. Rushmore. I truly enjoyed Crazy Horse Memorial and the lunch we had together. Gunalcheesh! My husband and I just returning back to Louisiana. We stayed in Rapid City 7/26-29/10. We had the best of best times with Karen for our tour guide. We did the Blackhills, MtRM and CrazyH one day, then the Badland and Walls. It was AWESOME and Karen's knowledge has no bounds. I booked my trip to America from Australia and one of my destinations was Rapid City. I was alone on this leg of my trip and very nervous as I had never travelled overseas before. My first morning there Ann arrived earlier than the pick up time as she knew the weather was going to close in over Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse and she didn't want me to miss seeing these memorable sights. It was an extraordinary and wonderful experience, thanks to Ann. This lady provided a service far outside her area of responsibilities. She took photos and videos of me enjoying myself which, being alone, I would never have had to bring home to my family. Her generosity in this area ensured that I will have these beautiful pictures for life. I can't praise Ann or her company enough and highly recommend both to anyone wishing to visit this destination. Thank you so much for the lovely tour you took us on to the Pine Ridge Reservation. My only regret was that I did not buy a book from Mark and have him sign it. If you could pass my email along to him that would be WONDERFUL! The tour itself was great and I walked away with that experience being deeply moved. Your kindness and even your help for the remainder of our destinations in the following days were terrific as well. We found the short cuts and enjoyed the rest of our destinations. We even ate at Wall's (your recommendation) yesterday on the way home. Thank you so much for the time spent with us and all the nice tips for our days that followed. Dear Ann, When we made our plans to visit Mt. Rushmore we never expected more than to see 4 heads of former US presidents carved in the rocks on top of the mountain... Your introduction to much more than the above made our tour an unforgotable one. Your vast knowledge of the area, the endless source of information and the apecial sense of humor that you add to the details made it not only interesting but joyful. Despite of the unexpected weather you made every moment to be a memorable one and the whole tour to be remembered as one of the best we ever had - and we had nany. What a wonderful experiance!! It was my first time to SD and I only knew of Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. My two tour guids Anne and Bev were amazing. My wife and I had the privilege of going on three of your tours with Bev as our guide. On June 11th she took us to the Badlands and June 12th we went to Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park and the general Rapid City Area then in the evening she took us back to the night lighting of Mt Rushmore. We had two very long days but they were thoroughly enjoyable. Bev is a walking encyclopedia with facts about the area and the places we visited. She answered all of our questions and was so polite to stop anytime we wanted to take a picture. She definitely made our vacation more pleasant. We saw and heard things we would never have had the privilege if we had attempted a self-guided tour. She was wonderful and I would recommend to anyone to take one of her tours. We spent 6 days touring with Ann and we enjoyed every minute of every day! We now feel like we have a good knowledge of South Dakota, got great pictures and Ann made us feel like a friend. We saw Pine Ridge and Wounded Knee and enjoyed fry bread tacos at Angie's in Kyle. The entire trip was a dream come true.
